Since I painted it, these peonies have caused a bit of agitation. I didn’t intend to create a full-fledged tutorial from them, but fortunately I took a lot of video footage when painting.
And after receiving many requests for tutorials, I went ahead and created a pair-down tutorial as a bonus. This is added to the new step-by-step procedure that we add every month.
It is premised on some experience. So before jumping in here, it’s a good idea to first make sure you’ve tried the Rose tutorial here.
It covers many of the same kind of petal drawing techniques you will need. This tutorial will show you how to work on flowers, pots and shadows.
For reference, all the hues used are listed below, but I won’t go into the details of color mixing. I completed the painting with a block of 12 x 16 inches, but provided its large size and a small size trace image for easier printing. anna
